| Das Arsenal von Venedig der größte Industriekomplex des Spätmittelalters. Diese Fabrik, wo Serienfertigung von Kriegsschiffen - schwer bewaffnete Galeeren - schon vom 12. Jahrhundert an betrieben wurde, war maßgeblich daran beteiligt, aus Venedig eine Seemacht zu machen. Diese Galeeren waren die schnellsten, schönsten und gefährlichsten Schiffe ihrer Zeit auf dem Mittelmeer. | The Arsenal of Venice was the largest strategic industrial complex of the Middle Ages. This factory mass-produced men-of-war from the 12th century onwards - armed galleys which turned Venice into a global power. These galleys were the fastest and best-armed ships ploughing the Mediterranean Sea. |

Sie waren die ersten, die Kanonen auf Kriegsschiffe stellten und gewannen als erste eine Schlacht, wo Feuerwaffen die entscheidende Rolle spielten: die Schlacht von Lepanto. | Of all the Mediterranean peoples, the Venetians were the first to understand the connection between navigation and mathematics; the first to put guns on men-of-war, the first to win a naval battle in which firearms played the decisive role, the Battle of Lepanto. |

Life in medieval Venice will be re-enacted. |
